As an acrylic-nail enthusiast with a standing fill appointment every three weeks, I take my manicure inspiration seriously. The look currently all over my very curated For You Page: pill box nails, summer 2026’s color-blocked trend where high-contrast shades are split cleanly across the nail to mimic the two-tone look of a capsule pill.
And as the data shows, I’m not the only one being fed the look ahead of my next nail appointment. According to Fresha—a booking platform for beauty and wellness appointments—Google searches for “pill nails” are up 84 percent in the last three months. No surprise there: The trend is playful, colorful and cool. Creators and nail artists keep posting versions that have me, a longtime single-tone manicure loyalist, seriously considering a maximalist moment.
After putting together the slideshow ahead, I’m convinced you’ll be a pill box nails convert, too. I’ve rounded up an array of takes on the trend, from celebrity manicurist Queenie Nguyen’s version, which she describes as “playful, slightly nostalgic, a little retro and somehow still cool at the same time,” to softer, more minimalist interpretations and high-gloss, full-color manicures.
