Policybazaar has introduced an annual domestic travel insurance plan for Indian travellers, broadening its travel insurance offerings as domestic tourism and inter-city travel maintain robust growth.

The Gurugram-based insurance platform indicated that this annual policy caters to frequent travellers, providing coverage for multiple journeys throughout the year, whether by flights, trains, buses, or road transport, all under a single policy.

Unlike single-trip insurance options, the annual plan removes the necessity for travellers to secure separate coverage for each trip.
Manas Kapoor, Head of Travel Insurance at Policybazaar, mentioned that domestic travel within India has surged in frequency for work, leisure, and family purposes, thus heightening the importance of travel protection in the country.
“Domestic travel today is more common than ever, whether for work, family, or leisure, and it can also be subject to various risks,” Kapoor stated.

As per the company, the policy encompasses personal accident coverage of up to ₹3 lakh, hospitalization coverage of up to ₹1 lakh while travelling, compensation for lost checked-in baggage, and assistance for trip cancellations due to unforeseen changes in travel plans.

Additionally, the plan covers certain home-related risks, such as burglary while the policyholder is away.

The launch coincides with a period of strong domestic travel demand despite geopolitical uncertainties stemming from the West Asia conflict and rising costs for outbound travel, with hospitality businesses observing ongoing interest in leisure, spiritual, and short-haul travel within India.

The annual domestic travel insurance policy starts at a premium of approximately ₹1,500 per member and targets frequent flyers, business travellers, families, and regular commuters, according to the company.
