With this system, users can earn cashback on purchases made through popular e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and Ajio.
The cashback benefit is limited to a maximum of ₹20 per transaction, and the credited amount is received instantly, allowing direct transfer to the commuter’s bank account.
The feature, named “RapidCash,” has been developed in collaboration with RapidCash, Acetech Digital, and SequelString AI Pvt Ltd. It aims to connect everyday digital expenses with urban mobility, enabling commuters to offset some of their travel costs without altering their shopping behavior.
According to Mumbai Metro One, the initiative seeks to enhance affordability for frequent passengers by merging commerce and transportation within a single digital platform. The operator noted that this model lets users continue benefiting from existing discounts on shopping platforms while also earning additional travel-related rewards, as reported by the Times of India.
Officials hailed the initiative as a pioneering offering within India’s metro landscape. They stated that it builds on previous commuter-centric features introduced over the years, such as WhatsApp ticketing, QR-based mobile tickets, Metro Rewards, and unlimited travel passes, according to the report.
Mumbai Metro One, backed by Reliance Infrastructure, has served more than 120 crore commuters to date and maintains an impressive punctuality rate of over 99%.
The RapidCash feature is currently available on the mobile app for both Android and iOS platforms.
