What the IMD Says
The IMD warns that the anticipated heavy rainfall may result in localized flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying regions, temporary visibility reduction, traffic disruptions, minor damage to unpaved roads, harm to susceptible structures, and localized landslides and mudslides. It suggests that travelers check for traffic issues before departure, adhere to traffic guidelines, steer clear of areas prone to waterlogging, and refrain from staying in vulnerable buildings.
The weather office has also announced a low to moderate risk of flash floods in several watersheds and surrounding areas in Uttarakhand over the next 24 hours. The districts affected include Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Dehradun, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, and Uttarkashi. The IMD warns that surface runoff or flooding could occur in saturated soils and low-lying areas due to the forecasted rainfall.
